When God Shows Himself in Our Lives

Reading Time: 7 minutes

Life gets so busy during the Christmas season and sometimes we might not notice when God shows Himself in our lives. There will be days in each of our lives when God shows Himself in our lives. Here is how God showed Himself in my life one December day.

This post is in memory of our dear friend, Travis, who lived his life acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with his God (Micah 6:8) and in honor of our sweet breath of Heaven, Grannie Annie, because she would love this the most.  We miss you both everyday.

Adversity…what a word.  Who wants it?  Why do we have to have it in our lives?  How do you heal afterward?  Is it possible to find joy after walking through adversity let alone during it?  This will give you 5 ways to find joy during adversity.  However, to understand the how to find joy during adversity, we must first define adversity.

Webster defines adversity as…

“Come away with me. Just you and me, to a secluded place where we can be alone and spend time together. I want to know you and be known by you”, her lover pleaded with her. This man loved her as no other person on earth. He accepted all of her flaws or the flaws that she perceived she had. He only saw her as beautiful, treasured and loved.

She longed to spend time with him, just the two of them. They would talk and laugh and dance. It would be amazing to have him all to herself with no interruptions. He was the best listener, the perfect man. (more…)

Why Do We Take Our Kids To Church?

Reading Time: 6 minutes

“Why do we go to church?” the twelve-year-old girl asked innocently.  The answer is difficult at best to put into just a few words.  I will try but I’m not a person of  a few words. 😉 Why do we take our kids to church?

If truth were told, it’s hard for the most devout Christian to get up and get the whole family dressed and to church on time without a small war breaking out in the home.

So why do we do it, why do we go to church?

Inspiration of Faith and Friends…

Reading Time: 6 minutes

When I started this post about the inspiration of Faith and Friends, I intended to go a different direction with it but it wasn’t coming together. I stopped, saved it, and spent some time praying about it. Then God directed it the way it should go. (Psalm 3:6)

Laughter, Perfection, Sunshine, Peace, and Fairy Dust are my “no matter what” friends.

No matter what I do or say or what they do or say, we will always be friends. There is nothing that will make us stop loving each other. I won’t use their names but they will recognize themselves. These ladies have been my “Jesus with skin on” throughout my life.

Inspirations from my Border Collie – When God Says to Let Go…

How do you know when God is saying to let go?  I learned a lesson about this from my Border Collie.

There are some things in life that are acquired tastes.  Foods like onions, coffee, wine, beer and dare I even mention sardines (yuk!) with strong flavors or bold features that make them unappealing to some people.  My husband loves sardines with cheese and crackers. (more…)

How to Save Yourself From Your Words

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Our words can be so destructive.  We can hurt ourselves by self talk.  How can we save ourselves from our words?

The importance of blessing in the Bible and the power of our words is something I’ve learned as I’ve grown older. A pastor loaned me a book recently called The Miracle and Power of Blessing by Maurice Berquist.  It is about Psalm 103.

Psalm 103:1-3 (NLT)

Let all that I am praise the Lord;
    with my whole heart, I will praise his holy name.
Let all that I am praise the Lord;
    may I never forget the good things he does for me.
He forgives all my sins
    and heals all my diseases.
