On facebook this morning, someone posted an article by carrentals.com with the top 10 places in the US to experience wildflowers. Our little town of Chappell Hill, Texas was #3!
We live in such a beautiful place. I wanted to show you some of my home in this post. These are all just pictures from my iPhone, not professional by any means.
The link for the blog about the top 10 places in the US to experience wildflowers is below.
On the video about Brenham and Chappell Hill in the article, there is some footage of the church where I served as minister to children. Watch for the big red barn, they show the church right after that. Pretty cool, huh?! Here is the article.
After you click the link for the article, scroll down to #3 to watch the video.

It is such a gorgeous time of year, when all the wildflowers wake up from their winter sleep.
This is just the beginning of God’s springtime artistry. He will paint more and more different varieties soon.
My granny always said she liked “something bloomin” in her yard all year. She planted different plants to bloom when others stopped. I think she got that idea from her Father, God, because that’s exactly how He plants His flowers in nature.
Here are a few of the various wildflowers from my yard during my walk with my silly dogs this morning.
These flowers made me think of Ephesians 2:10(NLT), “For we are God’s masterpiece”. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
Notice it does NOT say, look at the flowers and trees, they are God’s masterpiece. NO, it says YOU are God’s masterpiece! As beautiful as the wildflowers are, they are not what God treasures as His greatest creation. It is you and me, dear friend, that He calls His masterpiece.
A pastor once said in a sermon I heard, the word “masterpiece” or “workmanship” in Ephesians 2:10 translates “poiema” from the Greek.
This word “poiema” sounds like our word, poem or poetry. We are God’s poetry, His created masterpiece. He breathed His breath in to us to give us life. The word for Holy Spirit is translated, “pneuma” which is also the same latin word “pneumon” for our word, lung or breath.
Genesis 2:7 New International Version (NIV)
Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
God breathed His life force, His breath, into our physical bodies when He created us. Then, when we name Jesus Christ as Lord of our lives, we are born again or created anew (Ephesians 2:10) and filled with His Holy Spirit. God breathes the power of the third person of the Trinity, His Holy Spirit, into us and we become His masterpiece, His Poem that He spoke into being.
He created us to sing His poetry of the Gospel to the dying world through all that we do and say. To shine His glory or His power and Light into the world and spread the life saving story of Jesus. We are called to be “a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God” 2 Cor. 2:15 NLT.
So, go and create because you were created in the image of the greatest artist of all, the Great Creator. Shine, dance, and sing for Him.
I’ve heard it said, “we are to preach the Gospel and if necessary use words” everyday. God loves you and longs to see you shine.
Here are a a few pictures of my kids from a couple of shiny, glorious spring days at our home a few years ago.
Romans 1:20 New Living Translation (NLT)
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
We can see the beauty of His creation all around us and it is impossible to deny our creator. Romans 1:20 says, “we have no excuse for not knowing God” because there is proof all around us. Go out and enjoy His creation through His wildflowers and don’t forget that you are loved even more than these.
Matthew 6:30 New Living Translation (NLT) And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you.
Why do you have so little faith?
Happy Spring y’all!
